Matthew A. Benfield

Matthew Benfield was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, March 22, 2004. He attended and graduated from Mountain View High School in Stafford, Virginia, May 25, 2022 and 6 days later shipped to Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, South Carolina. He completed recruit training on August 26, 2022 and later attended Marine Combat Training in Camp Geiger, North Carolina for 1 month before checking into Fort George G. Meade, Maryland where he was trained in his Military Occupational Specialty, 4500, Communication Strategy & Operations.


At the Defense Information School, Benfield was a part of the joint-branch Mass Communication Foundations Course. This 6 month course taught all areas of public affairs including photography, videography, graphic design, news writing, interviews, social media and more. He graduated and attended a 1 month Broadcast Journalism course, which taught him how to run radio and music platforms for the Armed Forces Network (AFN). From there, he attended the Graphic Design course which taught in depth vector and raster production. Upon completion he was awarded honor graduate. After 10 months on Fort Meade, Benfield was then sent to Camp H.M. Smith, Hawaii.


Benfield is actively and proficiently using his public affairs and media abilities inside and out of the United States Marine Corps.
